Sometimes you may have an action, such as one that resizes an image and adds a drop shadow for a floating matte effect, that works fine, but one group of settings in a specific command needs to be altered. You might need to change the size that is applied via the Image Size dialog, for example. Heres how to apply such an edit to an existing action step:
1. Open any image so that you can apply the changes (most action commands require that an image be open in order to apply or edit a command).
2. In the case of editing the values of our hypothetical Image Size command, you would double-click on the Image Size line in the Actions palette. This would bring up the Image Size dialog. Change the settings as needed and click OK to close the dialog and apply the changes. In the Actions palette, click the Stop button to stop recording.
Alternately, you could simply drag the first Image Size step to the trash at the bottom of the Actions palette to delete it and then hit the record button and go to Image>Image Size to add a new Image Size command. After you click OK to the new Image Size settings, click the Stop button to stop recording.
If the new action command is added in the wrong place of the command sequence, simply click on it in the palette and drag it to the correct position. Action command lines can be moved and rearranged in the same way that you would move layers in the Layers palette.

Action command lines can be moved just like layers.
